We're both graduates of the Alternative Conjunction Clinic and School of Massage Therapy, licensed by the state of PA, and certified by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). And we each take Continuing Education classes every year to hone our skills and broaden our therapeutic horizons.
Neuromuscular Massage, including deep tissue and trigger point therapy, involves concentrated finger pressure to break the cycle of spasm and pain. Slow, deep pressure strokes and friction are also used to work the deeper layers of muscles. Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) may be used to stretch and lengthen tight muscles.
Communicate - During treatment, let your therapist know if the massage pressure needs adjusting, or any other modification that could help enhance your experience. Relax - With few exceptions, massages are passive for the client, and it's important that you "let go" - mentally and physically - to realize the best results.
Therapeutic massage from Essential Touch can be an important element of your health maintenance or wellness plan by helping the body and mind function at optimal levels. Therapeutic massage has many applications and variations. No matter what single purpose you hope to achieve, your whole body will benefit.
