We are conveniently located on Woodward Ave. in downtown Ferndale, just north of 9 Mile, and just several minutes from the I-696 and I-75 interchange. Essential Massage Therapy is independently, locally (and proudly!) owned and operated by Lisa Boyd. Our facility is staffed by some of the best massage therapists in Metro Detroit, and are at your service!
Cupping therapy is an ancient healing art, used to increase blood flow and kick-start the body's natural healing response. Often described as reverse massage, cupping uses concentrated suction, drawing layers of muscle and connective tissue away from the body to create a luxurious stretch, similar to myofascial release.
Aaron is a licensed massage therapist since 2006, and is a graduate from Irene's Myomassology Institute. While there he had the opportunity to train directly under the schools founder herself, the late, Irene Gauthier. After graduation, Aaron was offered the chance to serve an apprenticeship as a student teacher.

I never got a massage before and I came here with my mom. I had such a wonderful experience! When I walked in, I got greeted by a person at the front desk, filled out a form, and got settled into my room. I got a 60 min Swedish massage (for me + my mom) focused around relaxation + requested help with my lower back. My masseuse, Natasha, has a friendly and considerate personality. Everyone that works there is nice. My mom enjoyed her massage too. If you're looking for a good massage, consider making an appt. here!

If your looking for a Massage therapist, Look no further. You need to book a session with Aaron or Alexandra. Both are amazing at what they do. They both have done wonders for me. I actually have had Aaron work on me in the past at a different place & was so very happy to find him again. Alexandra knows just the right spots. Thank you to both of them for taking such great care of me!

If you want a no nonsense massage that really gets into your trouble areas, Aaron is your man. He really listened to my needs and went for it. He used very firm pressure in my problem areas, but made sure to check in on me and talk me through my breathing when needed. It was different from any massage I've had ever had, but it was absolutely what my body needed. I will definitely be returning to him!

Came in for horrible shoulder pain, to the point where laying on my back my shoulder was so seized it wouldn't lay flat. My therapist was Deane and she was amazing. By the end of my session I could lay completely flat. She explained everything she was doing and for my first time I could not have asked for a more comfortable experience. She was very genuine and made my experience easy and comfortable. The atmosphere is very calming and clean. Would recommend to anyone. Definitely will be returning.

I just had the best experience at essential massage therapy. Samantha is an outstanding massage therapist and helped more sore muscles feel so much better. The place was clean and the atmosphere was incredibly relaxing. The staff was so kind and courteous. I highly recommend anyone looking for a great massage experience visit this establishment.
