When I first came to Advanced Motion Therapeutic I didn't think that I would find it so nice. The people in the offices and at the front desk were so nice. They help you in any way they can. The therapists are GREAT and very good. They work with you so that you will get the best treatment/program that they can give you. I feel that I am doing great with the program.

Due to many different insurance guidelines, it is advisable to obtain one prior to your appointment to avoid complications with your insurance plan. As a patient, you have the right to request the physical therapy clinic of your choice.

If you're going here for lymphedema therapy and are new to lymphedema, in my opinion - don't. Now that I got that off my chest, let me tell you why. The gals at the front desk are both really nice and efficient with a smile and happy greeting when you walk in the door. The therapists I had were also very nice and had great personalities. Easy to work with BUT not trained in lymphedema more than a simple add on certificate.
There is one gentleman with experience and he did a good job but I didn't see him until I was 3 weeks into my "therapy"! None of the preceding people knew how to wrap my whole leg - the bandages would literally fall off when I stood up. Not a single word about the aspects of lymphedema therapy which includes: wrapping, getting a pump, compression garments, diet, etc.
I went there for 4 weeks total and I had to figure out how to wrap myself, what supplies I needed to get to successfully wrap myself, what manual lymphatic drainage was and how to do it, see what was going to happen next and study exactly what having lymphedema meant for the rest of my life. And the price for their inadequacy - a $300 copay. I kept going partially because I didn't know what to expect or where else to go.
I finally found a place that is a 45 minute drive away. To show you the difference between the places. I was given multiple sheets of paper which included: diet, what lymphedema is, and an action plan with what's expected over the next 4 weeks on the first visit. The gal not only did manual lymphatic drainage but explained the sequence, how to do it and why. (By the way, Advanced Motion is doing it wrong.) AND the new therapy place is going to help me get a pump with the correct sleeves.
The difference is vast. Advanced Motion Therapy needs to either train their therapists better or not include lymphatic therapy, in my humble opinion. To respond: my point about the copay was not the amount - I am fully aware that amount is set by the insurance company. My point is that I had to PAY to do the work myself. Something I don't think I should have to do. Secondly, your therapists are supposed to be the professionals. THEY should be the ones to take the initiative to ask the other lymphedema "therapists" when there is a problem.
I'm following my doctor's referral. I knew nothing about lymphedema prior to coming to your facility. You are supposed to know what you're doing. I was counting on your therapists to do the right things. Only wrapping my lower leg and watching my thighs increase in size is NOT THE RIGHT THING. Actually, that could be detrimental to my health. I've included pictures outside your facility of the wrapping job your therapist did to me.
I showed your receptionists as I was leaving so they could witness what was happening. This is supposed to be a professional job by trained therapists who let me walk out of there wrapped like this? Really?

I cannot drive without horrific pain and I do not have family close enough to drive me 3 times a week. When I called to ask what I should do since my ride canceled, I asked about transportation and when the woman came back to the phone she said that if I didn't come in for today's appointment I would be charged $40. Good luck with that! Now I'm not ever going back there! You would think that someone would be concerned that I couldn't drive myself safely!

Professional staff very knowledgeable.but. BAIT & SWITCH! I specifically requested and Dr. sent form for a therapeutic MASSAGE. BAIT & SWITCH! I get to work out. NO MASSAGE. Another warning: if you cancel on day of appointment $40 on you. I didn't want work outs I needed a massage. So I'm not doing this. also keep track of your insurance 'what's allowed and left over for your year'!
