I can't say enough good things about this place. I've had about ten massages so far with four different practitioners (Shannon, April, Nicole, and Brittany) and have seen everyone at least twice. They (1) are uniformly excellent; (2) differ enough that if one doesn't work for you, trying another is worthwhile; (3) know each other's work well, so they can recommend someone else there; (4) respond beautifully to feedback about how things are going; (5) will readily schedule you with someone else there, making scheduling a breeze; and (6) leave notes for each other and talk to each other, providing great continuity.
The practitioners have varying schedules and good availability, so it's easy to get in with someone. They're also good with scheduling so the visit is relaxed from start to finish. It's basically everything I might ever want in a massage place. I've been coming here for a back injury, so the variety of styles, the comprehensive expertise, and the strong communication has been a god-send.
I improve every time I come. They also give ideas about other things to do -- stretches, exercises, etc. -- which complements the benefits from their work. The location is convenient, a few blocks from silver spring metro and the transit center, so readily accessible by public transit. The area has lots of cheap parking. It's also near a number of shops and grocery stores, so you can add in some errands.
My only reservation in posting is that now all y'all are gonna start signing up for massages and it'll be harder to get an appointment. But I'm willing to take that risk because I'm public-minded like that. Really, this place is fantastic. You should come.

I had my first ever massage today, a prenatal massage with April. I have been having minor aches and pains as I start my third trimester, some leg numbness here and there. But I didn't realize how crappy I had really felt until we were done and I got off the table only to realize that I felt about a foot taller and could walk like a normal person again instead of a shuffling whale!
The massage itself was great -- good pressure and relaxing. April had me lay on one side and then the other with a big body pillow for support, and I was under cozy blankets that she would move when she was working on a specific area. She massaged my back/gluts, hips, legs, arms, and at the end my head and feet. I did an hour, but I could easily see doing an hour and a half. I'm glad this place is around the corner from work -- I'll be back!

I reviewed this fantastic place a few years ago after a car accident left me with significant back pain. One car accident later and I'm back, this time, to rave about Brittany. I didn't think anyone could help me with the stiffness and inflammation I was feeling in my neck and shoulders, but she worked miracles in the hour we had and left me feeling better than I could have imagined.
I have never had a mediocre massage at A Calmness Within. The owner chooses the practitioners carefully, and the customer service is great. You're talking with a real person when you call, not a cookie-cutter receptionist. I feel lucky to have this place right around the corner from my apartment.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful this place is. I am recovering from a neck and shoulder injury, and the care I received here has been the only high point of my long ordeal. I've worked with both Nicole and Carol and they are both extremely focused and attentive, which is key for someone like me with a serious injury. Their work has definitely been an integral part of my healing process, both for mind as well as body. Even once I'm fully healed, I will still be getting regular massages here!

I get my massages from Nicole and she is absolutely wonderful. You can tell that she really knows what she's doing. As a yoga teacher it is vitally important to me to have someone who can help ease a lot of the pain and tension in my body as a group fitness instructor. My husband sees Cheryl. And I hear she is great as well. I definitely recommend this place to get your massages.

Had a massage with Shannon today that really exceeded expectations. She discussed more options than I knew I had (after having dozens of massages at a few different places in difference cities in last couple years) and really seemed interested in helping me with my discomfort even if it meant less business for her. For example she gave me some novel tips on working out the knots myself and even recommended some great affordable yoga places when I mentioned my interest in that.
She also told me about their therapist that specializes in really deep massage too. The massage itself was great too with good deep pressure and she hit some spots that most massage therapists in the past haven't gotten as well. I bought a five pack of massages (never expires and can share with your girlfriend/spouse and you save $10 per 60 minute massage over the normal $90) given the great experience. Had a massage from Cheryl (owner) a few months back too; very good massage but lighter pressure than Shannon was able to do and not quite as much awesome info but would still recommend her.

They are magicians here! I absolutely love this place! Every time I go I get an amazing experience. They would always listen to your concerns and ask what you expect to get from this visit, and then tailor it to get the best results! They create a very relaxing environment. The first time I went there was after months of long rehearsals and performances (I'm a professional dancer) and I needed to get my body back on track. After getting a massage here, I knew I would not go anywhere else!

I first went here when I had a bunch of bruises. I thought massage couldn't really help with those, but I felt much better afterward. Their staff have different styles, but I've always been happy with the results. Cheryl is especially friendly, and Shannon, Nicole, and Carol are great too. They had acupuncture at one time. (Not sure if they do now.) I didn't feel a benefit from it, but I know some people do.
