KALU Salon & Day Spa

I bought some massages during the "Black Friday" sale in November 2021. They are good for a year. I went to book in the beginning of April and they don't have any massage therapists working there! I emailed the owner about a refund and was told they don't give refunds. Now I have $110 tied up there and they aren't even offering the service I paid for and I am not interested in any thing else they offer. You should be giving customers refunds if you aren't able to provide the services you sold them.

I was running late to my appointment but Morgan was more than nice about it. She took excellent care of me and I just feel badly I couldn't tip her more! Highly recommend to anyone who is seeking a new salon!

Love my new hair color! Katie's expertise in hair design is making changes with my color to blend in with my natural hair color as it is transitioning with new dimensions. Thank you Katie!

This was the 4th time I have been to this salon. I have been happy every time this last time I had a different stylist and I came to get my hair colored the same or a little lighter than the last time and the color it was dyed was darker. I really think it may just be better if I just do it myself I am able to get it lighter. Was strange that I told her I didn't want it dark and it turned out dark.

This was my first time visiting; i received a gift certificate. The spa and salon was amazing. Everyone was very friendly, super helpful and informative. Erin did my facial, and she was incredible. Alison did my blow-out and did a wonderful job! I will definitely be back.

The manager and beauticians are very friendly, good at hairstyling, Listen to what look I was looking for. Taking time with me, didn't rush. I have found a new salon.

Alison was amazing and very welcoming. She was very friendly, and helpful. She listened to me and made me feel as if i were chatting with an old friend. What a nice relaxing appointment. I felt very welcome right away and all the staff were smiling and friendly. Allison was awesome and I felt very comfortable with her cutting my hair and she reassured me throughout the cut that she was not cutting it too short. She did a great job on my hair and brows. Definately coming back! I will also be letting my friends know about this place. Thanks for making my experience great.

Pedicure chairs and set up are fantastic! The service and providers were even better. Ali and Amy took great care of me and my mom. We left with gorgeous nails and we had the best time. Highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for excellent service in a clean and inviting environment.

Erin is the sweetest! So through and styled my nails to a T! It helped bunches that her own personal nails were the exact replica of what I was going for on my nails! Such a great experience!

I love the atmosphere and always feel welcome all the stylists are very relatable and down to earth and always happy to help you with anything you may need. I have been going there for over 2 years and never once was I unhappy with any services I got. they are so professional and kind. They always go the extra mile for there customers too. Plus they offer a variety of services that are affordable. I can't say enough about them I love them

I'm new to the area and just tried out KaLu today for the first time after receiving a coupon. They delivered BETTER results than I could have asked for. Cut and color was exactly what I wanted. Customer service was amazing. This is my favorite hair ever. I will be back!

I have lived in Amherst for about two years now but just recently discovered Kalu at the end of summer. On a whim I had decided to cut my long long hair into a short pixie cut. I came in and Allison cut my hair and she was awesome. I have come back monthly since and been extremely happy. Allison has also dyed my eyebrows. I hadn't given my hair much thought until Kalu closed temporarily due to Covid and I was due for a trim.

Since my hair is short I knew I needed to maintain it and was forced to seek out another salon in a nearby county. All I can say is that Allison's cut and style is a work of art compared to this other cut and style I received. Cannot wait to get back in and have her fix my hair haha. I'd highly recommend her and Kalu. I also enjoy my experience every time I go there. Atmosphere is great and overall a quality experience.

First time getting a haircut here and Hannah was amazing! She understood everything that I wanted and knew exactly how to cut curly hair. I definitely found my new spot for a haircut.

Love their quality of wax. I have sensitive skin and have not experienced any redness or irritation afterwards. Mallory has a very light hand and she gets my full face done quickly. She also gave me a hair cut, a sun kissed beautiful balayage, manicure & a pedicure which is offered while customers relax on their massage chairs. I have also had my back & shoulder massage done by their massage specialist Ruth. It was truly rejuvenating.

I just came in for a gel mani and a spa pedicure. The whole experience was so amazing! Alex and Anna were so sweet and accommodating. My nails came out beautiful! I like that they have a separate room for nails and pedicure! They offers amazing deals! They have $20 off for a $50 dollar service! I would totally recommend this place for a girls night!

Love this place. I get my lashes done there and my hair (cut and color). Just had a blow out on Friday from Alex and it lasted 4 days! Pretty and professional and love the smell of Aveda products!

I used to absolutely love this place. This was my hands down favorite place to get my hair done. I don't know what happened. I just got my hair cut about a couple weeks ago and the cut was basic after beauty school but with no passion behind the cut, maybe if the hairdresser was so concerned with curling my hair(which I didn't ask for) I could've gotten a better experience and cut.

Definitely not what I would expect from a $40 haircut. Maybe from Supercuts. Also got my nails done back in November and my nails turned out okay but my moms nails looked like they were done by an amateur. I won't be going back. I don't know what happened to this place. It's very saddening to see the salon you loved and gloated about start to go down hill. Maybe they'll get better and have a comeback but until then I'll have to find somewhere else to get my hair done.

I've been coming to this Salon & Day Spa for years now and they go above and beyond my expectations each and every time! The majority of my time spent here is for the Elemental Facial with Alyse. This facial is AAAHHHHMMAZING! Alyse will assess your skin and discuss your areas of concern with you. There are no extractions done with the facials here which I like!

All of the products that are used are Aveda products which are made with organic ingredients and in-line with Ayurvedic principles. Taking care of your skin should be a part of your beauty routine and maintenance. Why not take a day or night and treat yourself with a wonderful and relaxing experience! I prefer to do my facials in the evening so I can go straight home and to bed completely hydrated. I've also had massages (Jason is fantastic), waxing, manicures, and pedicures done here. I've yet to have my hair done here but I've seen first hand the beautiful work done by the stylists here. Don't forget to pick up and restock on your Aveda hair and skin care products as they have them in stock right in the salon available for purchase which is sooo convenient! I Love the Aveda line!

I'm super disappointed with my experience here. The Yelp reviews have you believe it's a great place when in fact, it's just not. Before I elaborate with my review, I must say Jason is a phenomenal attribute to the spa. He is the only masseuse. We bought two massages thinking it'd be a couples thing, but we were out of luck. Really bummed they didn't tell us until after we signed the receipt that we had to go one at a time.

Instead of sitting there an hour each twiddling our thumbs, we purchased pedi packages. The new hire performing our pedicures is just horrific. She was swearing while talking, sharing unpleasant stories, and on top of that did a terrible job. We didn't get anything the package offered except a paint job. Jason intentionally didn't touch our legs because the pedicure we paid for was supposed to include massages.

When I told the front desk, they still charged us, just for the cheaper pedicure which was still not worth the money spent. I'm very disappointed with my time here. I have two gift certificates I wish I could get refunded because now they're just going to waste.

I had a great experience at Kalu. I was running a bit late because of traffic on the blvd, and staff was very friendly and accommodating. Jen highlighted and cut my hair. She did a great job explaining everything she was doing. The Aveda products worked great and smelled good. Price was reasonable for a salon. I have gotten many compliments on my hair since my appointment. Will definitely recommend to my friends in the future.

Love this place! I was referred by my sister's friend. It's my new salon for hair cuts! If the mani/pedis were cheaper I'd try those too, but you get what you pay for and they use Aveeda products! My stylist is Lindsey and she is great! She was friendly from the beginning when she happen to be at the register when I walked in. She gave me exactly what I wanted and actually exceeded my expectations! I'm very particular about who I let touch my natural and healthy hair!

She trimmed my ends and brushed up my layers. She even thinned out my hair to remove excess bulk that was weighing down my hair! My layers mix smoothly with the rest of my hair and she framed my face nicely! This is my now my go to place to get my hair cut! They offer 3 levels of hairstylists. Lindsey is a junior stylist at the $38 price which I am perfectly comfortable paying! The other 2 stylists are higher priced, but also maybe can do more? Check them out for yourself! They also sell LipSense products.

Super professional. First time there. Had Gloria for a gel mani yesterday. Best manicure I ever had. Did a great job, kept the shape I wanted, didn't rush didn't take too long. Was in and out within the hour. Only $32. I have paid less for gel manicures before, but you definitely get what you pay for. I couldn't ask for better. I will definitely be back, sooner rather than later. Ask for Gloria!

I love the talent at Kalu. In particular, I am enamoured with Junior. I've been a Kalu fan tried and true and recently Junior helped me down from a midlife crisis ledge. I aked him to work his magic and take me to silver city, via lavender way. I typically keep very light pale blonde hair and wanted to try something new. I left with a beautiful all over lavendar (see pic).

As soon as I got home I was already getting impatient. I washed a few times and my hair toned out to silver- again a fabulous color. As I began to get ready the next day I started to realize what a stong change in wardrobe and makeup I would have to make. I am not brave enough to keep the color- I needed to get back to the me I knew. Junior again worked magic. My crown is back to a clean, soft blonde. He was so careful with my hair. God bless Junior- and let him never leave Buffalo (long distance relationships are such a bitch).

I love everything about this salon - the atmosphere, the wide range of services and product, but mostly the people. Domjnae and Jenn both do a beautiful job with hair cut and color. Amanda is a rock star with nails and ALWAYS helps me find just the perfect color. I'd never heard of lash extensions before, but now I don't know what I'd do without Sam making my eyes beautiful.

No more need for mascara! Kari at reception always makes me feel welcome and knows everything there is to know about Aveda products. I am thrilled to have found this gem. Oh, and they serve the best hot tea! The only drawback - Monday's were my favorite days to go and they will be closed on Mondays starting now through wedding season so they may have more staff on weekends. I will badly miss the Monday "team".
