Spa On The Plaza

My husband and I just moved into the area and decided to treat ourselves for our anniversary. Decided to try Spa on the Plaza. My facial was done by Jeannie. Loved my facial. I have other facials and this was the most relaxing and amazing one I have ever had. Will be back again. Jeannie also did an much need eyebrow wax. Love the new shape of my brows. My husband had a massage by Ian. He found it to be very relaxing and felt wonderful afterwards. Ian was very patient and his tight spots feel much today!

Absolutely amazing experience here! This was our first time visiting this establishment. Super easy & fast to make a reservation (thank you Aisha)! Was greeted and checked in by Sarah, who was very kind and super helpful! My masseuse was Anita, she too was great! Asked the entire time if I was ok and hit every spot that needed attention! We will definitely return again! :)

We have been planning this trip for some time and was told about Spa on the plaza. They did not disappoint. Sarah greeted us with a smile and helped us out with all of our questions and made us feel so at home. Then I was greeted by CMT Amy she was able to find all of my stressed areas I left feeling like I was renewed and ready to take on the weekend. I highly recommend a visit. We will definitely be back.

Love the atmosphere and the vibe. Very relaxing. Jia was an especially skilled massage therapist. Highly recommend her. I've been going here for years.

We decided to stay local for our honeymoon. We stayed at the Portola hotel and heard good reviews about portola day spa. Since we just hosted our wedding, our trip needed a spa day. Since we had a few questions to ask before we started our appointment in the evening, monica, front desk in the morning was welcoming and informative. Sarah, front desk in the evening, welcomed us to our appointment, and gave us a tour of the place.

The package we chose was the sweetheart couples Swedish massage. Our CMT's that evening was Amy and Aura. We couldn't have asked for the best CMT that evening. We were the last clients that night. They took their time with us. They were hospitable and provided really great services. Best massages we ever got. If anyone is staying in the Monterey area, we highly recommend Portola Spa on the plaza.

I went to celebrate my 6 year wedding anniversary and this has been by far one of the best massage places I been too. I have been to a lot some in Santa Cruz and some in Napa but this one was one for the books. Megyn and Luis were amazing! I carry my stress on my shoulders and neck and always have tension headaches. Megyn asked me what I wanted to focus on, I said neck upper shoulders back and head.

No lower body. Normally other people do not listen and still do full body, not Megyn she specialized in cranial work. I had a tension headache for 3 weeks immediately after my massage it was gone! I could not believe it. The next day I woke up and no headache either. I was amazed! Luis also did an amazing job massaging my husband and got rid of his tension. Overall my husband and I left relaxed and pain free. I would definitely recommend and give this place 10 stars if I could.

I am so happy that I got to visit the spa. I was enjoying the pool area before I headed out for sightseeing and decided to give the spa a call to see if they had any openings. Erik who answered my phone was so welcoming and friendly. I really enjoyed her personality. I loved the beautiful spa. Everything was clean and decorated well. I can not wait to return to try a facial.

Amy is amazing! I had the Rose Remedy massage and it was great. Nice combination of Amy's soft hands and luxurious lotions and essential oils. I especially liked the European Rose Mask and all the warm towels. I definitely didn't realize how stressed I was until I came out feeling like putty. If this place were any closer to the San Francisco Bay Area, I'd come monthly!

Absolutely unbelievably fabulous experience! The entire experience from check in to check out was perfectly orchestrated! My Massage Therapist "Andrea" created an an atmosphere so relaxing that I totally lost track of time! Thank you ANDREA! Much needed get away!

Treated myself to the Designer Package while staying at the Portola. Sarah P. was very sweet and helped me snag an appointment as I was driving into town. I think she could sense how desperately I needed the spa day! : Started off the afternoon with the Symphony massage with Ashlea H. She was instantly calming and throughout the massage, she was very attentive and adjusted pressure as needed.

I left the massage feeling so incredibly relaxed. Next up was my Designer facial with Alicia. She started off by asking if I had any concerns about my skin, and started coming up with a game plan. The entire facial was light, refreshing and I felt so rejuvenating. As soon as I left, I texted my friends to make sure to sneak some spa time in as soon as possible. I look forward to returning next time I'm in town!

It was between this facility and another when I decided to drive 3 hours to spend time with my college student daughter and treat her to her first spa experience. I'm so glad we went here as the staff here was very accommodating. We both did a quick 50 minute symphony massage before dinner with Ian and Jia. I had Jia and let me say she was amazing!

Very communicative on my needs and made sure the pressure was on point. You can tell she really knew what she was doing and worked on me the whole time. I will certainly be booking with her again. My daughter said Ian did a great job of working the deep tissue massage and loosening some knots she had in her lower back area. He spent an equal amount of time on all areas and didn't rush from one to the other.

Thank you to the front receptionist for helping us with information on parking and access as there was an event going on at the convention center and it was a zoo outside. FYI go early when events are happening as to allow time for parking and maneuvering the crowds. Thank you spa on the plaza for such an enjoyable experience, we will be back :

My partner and I spent the weekend driving down the coast from the Bay Area so she could check out Asilomar to golf at Pacific Golf Links. While she went golfing she treated me to a spa package - the designer - which included an 80min massage and a facial. My massage therapist was Andrea. Andrea was excellent. She gave me the run down and asked about any particular pain points, focus areas, and wondered if I might be ticklish.

These questions helped her to curate a massage specific to me. Normally I do deep tissue or Thai massages, I have a really high pain tolerance. Andrea's massage was not deep tissue, it was incredibly relaxing, and two days later I'm still sore from it (in a good way). Andrea was very gentle, but made sure to get every nook and cranny off my neck and back.

It was a complete body massage from head to toe. I'll definitely request Andrea's services again. My esthetician was Melanie. Melanie had many years of varying experience which I loved about her. She's very kind and welcoming. I told her my anxiety causes me to pick at my skin at times and before she addressed the skin care element - she asked me how I'm doing.

I really appreciate that. I'm better, and now I'm focusing on improving my skin as I age. She hooked me up with lots of great treatments including an exfoliant, and sun spit treatment. My facial even included a hand treatment, and two days later, my hands are still nice and soft. The ladies at the front desk were nice, attentive, and chatty which made me feel comfortable. So happy to have found this place!

I came back to this place just to get a massage from Luis again. He did a fantastic job just as expected and is truly masterful at massages! Luis gets 5 stars and I'll be requesting him every time I come to this spa. I am giving the overall experience 4 stars today though because this time I didn't have a private bridal suite to hang out in while I waited for the massage.

Instead I tried laying out in the pool and Jacuzzi area and yikes.super loud traffic and non-stop honking cars. Really ruins the vibe. Would be good to up some kind of sound barrier or cover the area with a tent to help reduce the noise but it'll probably be impossible to make it go away since it's just bad luck with the location. All good, I will just avoid using the pool next time :

My 80 minute athletic massage with Andrea was nothing short of fantastic. She is very warm, welcoming, and makes sure you are comfortable throughout the whole massage. The pressure was consistent throughout the entire massage and she was sure to not make ANY noise while moving around the room so the environment stayed a relaxing one. I will definitely be going back to Spa on the plaza and when you do.ask for Andrea!

This was just okay. My husband purchased a "Valentine's Day" package of an 80 minute massage and a 50 or 60 minute facial, I can't remember. It was also supposed to come with a glass of champagne and chocolate or something? Anyway, the facial was great, the aesthetician was thorough and very knowledgeable. The massage was unfortunately mediocre at best.

I'm not sure if the technician was new or not, but it wasn't enjoyable and definitely wasn't 80 minutes in length. To top it off I didn't receive any champagne or chocolate. The facility was dated and not as clean as it should have been. All in all, I wouldn't go back.

My experience here was just okay. My husband got us a massage here for my birthday and there were a few things with my massuse that I found interesting. I don't believe either of them gave us their name so I'm not even sure who we got. A little bit into my massage, I was told my headrest cover was the wrong one and needed to be swapped out.

It was swapped to a pillowcase which made it extremely hard to breathe through for the remaining duration of the massage. They had a little stool to rest my arms when they were pulled forward but the stool was placed under the pillowcase so it had the dangling part of the pillow even shorter and harder to breathe through. When we flipped around on our backs, I was told we needed to put our mask back on, which I was totally fine with, but my lady had already had my mask in her hand - which was tucked in my robe pocket and the robe was wrapped up on a chair. Sooo, she went through my stuff to look for this mask?

She could've just said "Hey we're going to need your mask back on when you flip around, can I grab it for you?" So I was a little uneasy about that. I thought this was the standard but at the end of the massage, I look over and my husband didn't have to put his mask back on at all. This is when I was like wth? Why was I the only one that had to put it back on?

The inconsistancy just didn't sit well with me. The massage itself was only alright. I typically feel fine enough to shower when we get home but I was left with a puddle of oil on my chest so had to rinse off in the room before heading out. But just with the going through my belongings and having only me wear a mask and not my husband is enough for me to not want to come back again.

The salon itself was very relaxing, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. I had a facial with Melanie and I loved both : the facial as well as Melanie! This woman has so much knowledge when it comes to skin or wellbeing In general. It was a pleasure learning from her. I felt more relaxed and my skin was glowing afterwards!

I am very satisfied with the service of the spa, the staff is friendly, professional, and the price is affordable. I really like Sally about her skills. I will be back again. Thank you!

My husband and I went in for a couples massage (the Sweetheart Special) and had a wonderfully relaxing time! The bath was also absolutely lovely, we didn't want to leave - but it's easier knowing that a massage is coming next. Our masseuses Christina, and I believe, J (so sorry we didn't catch her name!) were fantastic. Christina did my massage and was great at identifying and working out where I carry my tension.

Also she was quick to realize we were there to celebrate our anniversary which was so kind. Great showers in the locker room before heading back to the world were a nice ending as well. Will visit again whenever we next visit Monterey!

Really enjoyed the experience here. Had a nice couples massage lined up with short notice. Relaxing, and the staff was very polite and communicative. Only thing is that I'm not entirely sure what the different would have been from a regular massage to the special one we got, so the price seemed like it was more than it needed to be in comparison, but I'm not complaining about the product they are selling.

Disappointed. So I scheduled a couples massage (aromatherapy 80minutes) for me and my husband. I'm a local and I've been going to this spa occasionally (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.). When we arrived, changed and were put in different rooms (I was hoping that no one would be by mistake laying down in a room with my husband). Pretty much 1 table was empty in that room for couples massage, that what I found out after when I met my husband in a relaxation room.

Our massages were great, that is the only reason I gave this place 3 stars instead of 1 - for poor service. The new employee at the front desk was nice but couldn't really check us out (all her colleagues left already) and she wasn't sure how to apply a gift card and promised by another employee 10% discount (that she said she would put in notes for whoever is going to check me out). So 10 minutes later- no discount. So sad to that after a good massage I left disappointed that the service was not at the level Portola spa used to be couple years ago.

My massage was awesome! The place is clean and quiet and the staff is friendly. My only complaint would be the wait. I checked in on time and changed, etc. But I was left waiting for my bath for about 20 minutes. I overheard another couple asking when they would be taken to their bath and it sounded like the staff forgot. Then I was taken back to a couples massage room with a tub. Pretty obvious I got their tub and because it took so long the water was like warm. But honestly I will go back! I haven't felt that relaxed in a long time!

COVID Protocol - everyone observing. Service - great massages. Party of two in separate rooms and both were great. Super relaxing and just the right pressure level. Definitely recommend Ambiance - very relaxing as you would expect. The pre bath in the giant whirlpool was awesome. Parking - public garage is nearby so very convenient. Overall - yes it costs but what a great way to pamper yourself. Save your hard earned money and treat yourself next time you are in Monterrey.

Overall, the spa was really nice and very clean and I would come here again. I checked in for my sweetheart special bath and couples massage and my fiance and I were led to the locker rooms to change into our robes and were told to wait in the relaxation room for our massages. My masseuse arrived and told me it was time for my massage, but it was my understanding that we would be having our bath before the massages.

I asked if our bath was still happening and he left for a moment to ask the other staff. I guess they must have forgotten because we ended up getting our massages first and the bath afterwards. I was expecting to be massaged with my fiance since it was a couples massage, but we were both led to separate rooms. Not a big deal but I wish I would have been told this is how it was when I originally called asking if you do couples massages.

The massage itself felt amazing, however my masseuse was a little chatty while I wanted to relax in silence. Once the massage was done and we got to our couples bath, the bath was just slightly warm, we were able to add more hot water though so not too big of a deal. Just wish we could've had the bath first to relax prior to the massage. Overall, it was a beautiful spa and was very clean inside, and I would come here again. But maybe without the sweetheart special.

I went for a third time and needless to say the spa is underwhelming. With hefty prices of facials and massages I wanted to be pampered for a day, instead my tub was broken and massage was rushed. I've been there times and none of the experiences were worthwhile. I won't be going back

Just an awesome spa. Amazing experience at this place. Sally is a pleasant, positive woman with a calming presence. The facial massage is awesomely relaxing! Sally did incredible work with my nail. Definitely come back again.

Brianna did such an amazing job! She is absolutely lovely! I highly recommend the Rose oil massage. Very relaxing! Felt absolutely wonderful the rest of the day, and she was specific about where I had tension areas. This was really helpful, so I can be more mindful about the areas I need to work on stretching more. Awesome experience here.

We did the couples massage package. Great deal for this type of service in Monterey. Included a fifty minute massage, brunch, validated parking and all day access to the pool, gym etc. The only thing I can say that would be negative would be, the pool and hot tub are outside and shared with the hotel. So it wasn't clearly advertised like this and some people in the spa were out off by this. We loved our massages and will definitely book again!
