In 1999 Glenmore opened the first yoga studio in Richmond with the simple belief that yoga is for everyone. That has always been, and will always be, our guiding principle. Over the years, we have expanded three times to meet our client's needs. Our current space occupies 4800 sq. Yoga is for every body and we offer a wide variety of classes to meet your needs.
In the Fall of 2004 we moved into our current space in the Gleneagles Shopping Center on Ridgefield Parkway, just west of Pump Road. The 4800 square foot space is comprised of two large, comfortably carpeted studios, massage treatment rooms and a comfortable lounge / reception area where you'll find herbal tea, spring water and a lending library containing books and DVDs on yoga and related topics.
Yoga means "to yoke" or "union" in Sanskrit. It is an ancient Indian set of practices designed to integrate mind, body and spirit. We trace these practices to The Yoga Sutra, a text that condenses the meaning and practice of yoga to an 8-part system that includes moral and ethical precepts, postures, breathing techniques, relaxation, and stages of meditation. The postures release stiffness and tension, increase the flexibility of the spine and joints, and strengthen and tone every part of the body.
