I had the good luck to get a last minute appt with Jessica and my super curly/mixed texture hair was a rats nest! I have had many many sub-par haircuts over the years and its always a roll of the dice if a stylist actually knows how to deal with it. Jessica delivered! This lady knows what she is doing! I have long curly hair. Had color and cut with Monserrat and recently another haircut with Carly! They were both very good and I would recommend!

I got a haircut from John, the owner of the shop, and he did a great job. Each stylist isn't an employee but instead pay rents to do their haircuts at the shop. I thought it was an interesting business approach, and supposedly this is done at most hair cutteries. They rent out the shop to many really good stylists, so you won't go wrong with any stylist.

Carly did a great job on my mens haircut! It had been awhile since getting a trim and my curly hair was getting out of hand. I showed Carly and old photo of me when my hair was much shorter and she perfectly restored my hair to the previous look. The space is a great location downtown, clean, comfortable, and has a relaxed atmosphere. I'll definitely go back and I recommend to anyone looking for a top quality haircut!

Monserrat did such an amazing job. I am only in town for 2 months and I only needed 1 hair cut halfway through my time here. She listened and totally understood what I was wanting. The only sad part is that I won't be able to keep getting my haircut by her because I live out of state.

Angelina was so personable and knowledgeable on hair care. Love my fresh cut. Good vibes, I'll come here again.

Chuck did a fantastic job. I have never been to a salon before, always a barbershop. I have long hair so I finally gave it a try and will have a hard time going back. He delivered exactly the cut I described (and I gave a very poor description). The wash at the beginning is a really nice feature. Very reasonable prices for service and location $45 for wash and cut.

I'm so happy with the color and cut I got from Angelina. She really listened when I said I wanted something easy to maintain and she came up with the perfect style for me. She is a talented colorist who covered my grays and added dimension. My hair looks and feels shiny and healthy now.

Got my haircut by Chuck today! I needed my layers fixed and wanted to give curtain bangs a try. He did a great job adjusting the bangs to fit my face and blending them into the rest of my hair! Very happy with my cut

My do needed freshening up - Chuck is back from California, and available on Mondays! Swear to gawd! I work weekends, so yay for me and such a great pick me up for spring! Chuck is a dedicated stylist and his years of experience & craftsmanship make even really tired, really stressed out 2nd shift pandemic nurse-mom feel fabu. FYI- He's cash only. I am terrified of haircuts after years of bad haircuts when I was in high school. I really wanted to change my hair and made an appointment with Rae after seeing great reviews online. Rae was very kind and professional and took such great care with my hair! I take care of my haircut needs here now.

I call this place and was fortunate they had a cancellation same day after trying to go to Charmed studio where the stylist didn't show up or communicate. After a couple negative experiences I am happy to have found Carly! She did an amazing job and their prices can't be beat. She's very attentive to figuring out exactly what the client wants and communicates throughout the cut to ensure you're always on the same page. I've already booked my next appointment and bleach with her!

I always go to Darby for all of my haircuts and I've never disappointed! All you have to do is say a few words and show a couple of pictures and she makes your vision come to life. Especially when I first chopped most of my hair off, she was very cognizant of the emotional process of doing so while also giving me a kickass haircut. I recommend her to every friend I have who needs their hair done because she always gives you exactly what you want and goes above and beyond to ensure perfection.

Honestly awesome! I had my hair cut with Rae and she was amazing! As someone with curly hair I'm always nervous the first time I go to a saloon but she put me at ease right away. She clearly knew what she was doing with curly hair and I love my new look! The only place I'm getting my hair cut in Ann Arbor from now on.

I've gotten a few haircuts here and it must be a very hit-or-miss experience. I got a haircut here that I loved last year and decided to come back. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience this time and won't be back again. I scheduled an appt. online and received a call the day of that the stylist was home sick. Ok, it happens, no big deal, I reschedule my appointment for the next day.

When I show up for my second appointment, the receptionist informs me that she's still out sick and that I should have received a call. I hadn't (double checked my phone to confirm I hadn't missed anything, nope, no call). Still, it happens, people get sick, they obviously don't have a great system in place to deal with it but I understand, and I reschedule yet again.

I show up for my third appointment 5 min early. 10 min past my appointment time, I see my stylist finishing up her client. Then, someone else gets in her chair! I ask the receptionist if I did indeed have a 3pm appointment (it's now almost 3:15) and she says yes. I ask about why my stylist is cutting someone else's hair instead and she replies that they do trims in between clients. if I was already over 10 minutes late for my next appointment I would probably not accept someone else in between.

At this point I am frustrated - I value my time and carefully schedule my days, but was desperate for a haircut so I decide to wait even though the receptionist offers to reschedule (which would have been the fourth time). My gut told me to walk out and find somewhere else, and I wish I had listened. So I finally, about 20 minutes later, am in the chair and tell Monserrat that I have been growing out my bangs and am looking to even out the rest of my hair to match their length.

She says something about "curtain bangs", I reply "I don't know what that is", and then she washes my hair and starts the cut. About 5 minutes later, she cuts 2-3 inches off my bangs - I am in shock and have no idea why that happened. The whole time, she's asking my questions about my hair. I let her know that I usually don't blow dry and sometimes emphasize my natural waves with a diffuser.

The style she gives me is heavily blown-out with a round brush, which couldn't be farther from my daily routine. I'm sure she was rushed because of the late start, and it seemed like she wasn't paying the slightest attention to what I was asking for & telling her. I have been devastated ever since, and asked everyone I know for recommendations about where I can go to get this tragedy fixed. I'm so disappointed with this experience.

It took her 3 seconds to ruin what I'd been working on for a year (growing out my bangs). Now I'm dealing with a crappy haircut that doesn't style easily and have been wearing hats/headbands every day.

Monse is the only one I'll ever go to anymore! She has an incredible eye and unbelievable talent; I see her for all my needs from makeup to hair. She's a magician. Would give 10 stars if I could!

I just moved to Ann Arbor and asked a friend for salon recommendations as I was in desperate need of a hair cut, I read the reviews and saw some bad ones from some probably disgruntled customers but I went ahead and booked with orbit and was assigned to Angelina. She did so amazing! Best hair cut I've had in awhile, I didn't even show her a picture of what I wanted but she got down what I envisioned perfectly. Plus she's so personable and great to talk to. I highly recommend Angelina!

I could never see anyone except Monserrat ever again now because she has not just changed my hair but my confidence. If you want to look and feel good, go see her! Not to mention, everyone else at Orbit is absolutely kind and welcoming! Won't go anywhere else in Ann Arbor!

Monserrat cut my hair beautifully! She cut my hair exactly how I envisioned. (Still would not recommend Darby for bleaching Asian hair- see previous review)

Today I went to orbit to get a color correction after a horrible dye job from the Aveda school a block away. I went into Orbit for the first two weeks earlier for a consultation and they were very sweet and accommodating to fit me in so soon! Jessica did my hair today and was very nice to talk to and did a fantastic job. She and other employees were friendly and great at giving me tips on how to treat my hair to maintain the job.

I walked out with a huge smile on my face! I will be a returning customer for sure. I'm attaching my before and after pictures just to show how great of a job Jessica did - it was done in less than 5 hours (also included a haircut!). I am very satisfied.

I just had a fantastic appointment with Darby! She filled the blonde on my ends, applied an all-over color, and cut my thick, raggedy hair into something cute and manageable. She was also a total sweetheart who made sure to grab a chair for my husband to sit near us and took the time to explain how to style my new cut. My husband barely trusts anyone to cut his (gorgeous!) curls, and he's been coming here since we moved to Ann Arbor.

He loves Jess, and he always comes home looking extra handsome! The location is convenient for us, although parking can be a pain if there's something happening on or near campus. Scheduling is easy. I called and left a message when they were closed, and they called me back the next day. The person who works at the front desk is always really nice, and Darby has been really great about accommodating my schedule.

She also made sure to tell me that if I wasn't satisfied with my hair, I could come back in and she would fix it for free. Also, I really believe that good haircuts are one of those things that you should splurge on, but Orbit is shockingly reasonable as nice salons go. I ended up paying about 50% of what I had expected to pay for a two-process color and cut. In short, they're great. Get your hair done here.
