Graduated from this school several years ago. The teachers were friendly and helpful, class was almost never boring, and the clinic hours were fairly easy to schedule with. My only complaint is the CEU program they have hear via online. It is almost impossible to get a CEU scheduled and paid for unless you have PayPal. The other "option" is by phone, but unfortunately it's a bit hard to get in touch with the coordinator of the CEUs to deliver payment so the CEU can start. I've had the run around for several weeks and am now looking elsewhere for my CEUs. Do not waste your time here for online CEUs, but otherwise no other complaints.

Let me start with, I am a current employee. But before that, I was a student. I toured TLC in 2009 before I moved to TX. Out of all of the other massage school's in the Austin area, TLC stood out in the best ways. I was so impressed with their website and their campus. I didn't enroll until 2011 and signed up for a 9 month class. Going to massage school was one of the best decisions of my life.
They have multiple schedules so I could work and go to school at the same time. I felt supported by the staff and instructors. I learned more than I ever imagined. Plus getting massages several times a week, awesome! Their syllabus is laid out in a way that you know exactly what you need to study to prepare for each class. You know what you are being taught each day and have a packet with all of the information to follow along and take notes.
There's an assignment grid so you know when stuff is due and how to turn in your homework. 2 years after graduating, I started assisting at TLC and see the school from an employee's view. There is so much that goes on in the back offices. I have incredible bosses and co-workers. I have never had a job where my bosses constantly made sure I felt supported and engaged AND told me how much they appreciated the work I was doing.
I am now the Education Director and it is my job to support our students and instructors. We are constantly growing, adapting, and improving our program and school. I love our school and our students and hope that if becoming a licensed massage therapist is in your future, that you'll consider taking the same route I did, and go to Lauterstein Conway. COVID update: Since we reopened in August, we have required (and provided) masks and provided gloves (required for students massaging in clinic) and hand sanitizer.
We purchased many air filtering systems and have them placed throughout the school, clinic, offices, and bathrooms. We hired cleaners who diligently sanitize all touchable surfaces every hour and a half with 90/10 alcohol solution and keep our school in top shape. We take COVID and your safety very seriously. When students are on campus for class, we utilize both classrooms, exhaust fans, and social distancing whenever can. We also take temperatures and have a COVID questionnaire for clinic and classes.

Every massage I've had here by the interns have been amazing, to say the least. Most of the time it feels like I'm getting a massage from someone who has been practicing massage for years! Everyone is always professional and really nice. You just can't beat the experience for that price point! Only $40 for an hour long massage. Good luck finding those prices anywhere else in town.

Graduated in 2017 and massage has changed my life. This school was a very nurturing place to learn and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a career in massage therapy. I've never had to look hard for a job, I've always gotten good reviews from clients, repeat clients and a wonderful feeling that comes from helping others feel better.

I completed the Lauterstein-Conway Massage School's basic 500-hour program for licensure as well as its 250-hour advanced program. The former prepared me to work in spas, and the latter prepared me to offer more advanced services in my private practice. The instructors are all highly experienced massage therapists who are dedicated to teaching the skills needed to succeed, and many offer continuing education classes in the areas of their experience. I have always been proud that I went to TLC and feel like I've made friends for life with many of my teachers and classmates.

I was a part of the September class of 16 and it has really changed me for the better. The way classes are taught incorporate every type of learning: Lecture, book, Q&A and hands on. I did not do well in a typical classroom environment due to being limited in auditory and visual learning, but being able to be hands on and ask what what I am feeling rather than memorizing what's in a book made all the difference to me. The instructors were all amazing and patient and my class felt like another family. If you're interested in learning massage, this is an incredible place.
