Joanna Vargas Skin Care

The facials at Joanna Vargas are amazing. Unfortunately, the customer service is not. I called the salon a number of times to cancel my appointment, left a voice message, etc. and when I finally got in touch with the customer service representative, I was told that I could not cancel or I would be charged full freight for my facial because they checked the call log and stated that I called only 23 hours in advance of my appointment.

When I asked the customer representative if there was anything that could be done to avoid the charge she told me that she could not do anything for me, that she was following protocol, and that there was no one else I could talk to. I told her I would be happy to show my call receipts to the appropriate people to show when I called and she raised her voice at me telling me there was nothing that could be done to avoid the charge because they checked their call logs.

When I told her it was not necessary to raise her voice, she raised her voice again (ironically) telling me she was not raising her voice, then she hung up on me when I was asking for her name. I have been going to Joanna Vargas for a while, and have always had a really nice experience. It is extremely disappointing to see such horrible customer service from what is otherwise a very lovely and professional salon.

I came here and got the triple crown facial. This is their most well known facial and I did enjoy my results after receiving the service. There was a couple important things to note about this facial. #1 There are no extractions with this facial. #2 This facial is focused around the benefits of oxygen and electrical stimulation. #3 My redness has gone down. However, my pores are still a little congested.

I only gave it 4 stars because I feel like it should have extractions. The questionnaire asks if you have any health related issues to help target the facial to your needs. I think this is nice but I don't really appreciate when estheticians try to tell me things about my health when I did not inquire for information. It is okay to mention things with good intent and it did not bother me but I would be careful with presumptions and making people promises.

That could have made me very uncomfortable and I don't want anyone who walks in there for facial to feel this way. This is nothing personal, just the nature of spa. I want to relax not be told what to do with my health. Even if I am welcoming about it, someone else might take extreme offense.

Such a wonderful experience with Monica. She looked at my horribly broken out plane skin and give it an overhaul in an hour and a half. Top of the line tools and care. Sad to see some not so happy reviews - it was 10/10!

These people tried charging me $360 for an appointment I never confirmed and asked to cancel with 22.5 hours notice (instead of 24). Their facials are okay but incredibly overpriced. Go somewhere else. And in response to Cesar. Sure, bud. Your idea of high class and quality must be very different. You have the audacity to say you're UNDER PRICED? LOL! Hilarity ensues.

Elena is a magician! No matter which facial I get, I come out looking tighter, fuller and with a glow. It's my splurge and worth every dime. The front desk is inviting, calming and attentive. The rooms are cozy and luxurious. I never leave without planning my next visit!

I bought a package valued at over $1k and had been consistently going to my appointments. I needed to reschedule 1 appointment due to a last minute family emergency (a family member suddenly gravely ill in the ICU and I had to leave the state) but because I called to cancel 4 hours after their cancellation deadline (I was on a plane before), they still credited the package and would not let me reschedule.

Ultimately I understand that they were following their policy and the service was good in general. However, my experience showed me that this business only cares about their bottom line and treats the customer as just walking $ instead of people. Go somewhere else where people care about you!

Excellent facial! Based off of the reviews, thank goodness for them, I'd recommend upgrading to get the master service for a true Joanna Vargas experience that celebs get!

I needed some pampering after a crazy week at work, so I decided to get a facial as it had been about 3 years since my last one. I booked an appointment well in advance, as it was super difficult to get something even a few days out. I was booked with Samantha on a Sunday afternoon. The spa waiting area is really cute, and the entrance/waiting area is really spacious. Receptionist checked me in, and I waited for about 10 minutes before my esthetician called me in.

I was a bit early, so I didn't mind waiting. I booked a Triple Crown facial, but after Samantha looked at my skin, she suggested an Oxygen facial instead because I was rather congested and would need extractions. The entire process lasted a little over an hour, and it really flew by. The extraction process wasn't painless but I had a lot that needed to be taken out so it was understandable. Samantha was really knowledgeable, and gave me some recommendations to try, both diet-wise and skincare-wise which I really appreciated. Afterwards, my skin was a little red because of the work done, but it calmed down later on that evening. It's been a few days since my facial, and my skin still feels really smooth and soft. I would definitely recommend this place if your budget allows, as I think the results are great. I'm looking forward to coming back regularly.

Great salon. Don't cancel. They charge you the FULL amount! OUCH! Even if you are driving around trying to find parking and can't find any available lots in busy midtown! They will charge you the $250 or so for the missed appointment! So pathetic. I can see charging the full amount if you actually have your own parking! But they don't!

Some of the best facials. The experience is always very good with very thorough and nice estheticians. I always leave with glowy, hydrated skin and lasting results!

I received a triple-crown facial from Marina Montoya. I am beyond thrilled by the results. She is a master at her craft; and took care of my skin with care and precision. I also enjoyed our conversation - her energy is authentic and kind-hearted. Overall, my experience was A+! I would highly recommend her!

The spa is nice. Very well decorated. The LED part of my facial was rushed and as an add on it should feel worth the extra cost. This place is great for a pick me up in terms of standard facials. Cute splurge

Anastasia is amazing, I do the Twilight and Triple Crown facials with her and have seen a noticeable difference. She is super sweet, never upsells, and always gives great advice. She does a really nice job analyzing your skin and recommending post-facial care routines, and is also just a lot of fun to talk to! I always leave feeling great, highly recommend to anyone looking for a facialist you can trust long-term.

I had the triple crown facial and it was, without a doubt, the best facial I've had. Definitely worth the price. Can't wait to come back.

I haven't had a facial since the beginning of Covid, my face was irritated and dehydrated. Valentina did a phenomenal job! My face is glowing and I feel brand new! She was gentle, professional and kind. She made the experience so pleasant! I already have my next session with her scheduled. I highly recommend!

The facial was adequate. Nothing special but not bad either. The cost is in the higher middle range. However the aesthetician had a terrible attitude. She was openly hostile, aggressive and attempted to shame me regarding frequency of facials in the recent past. She actually said "I don't know what you expect from me, I can't work miracles " and a few other juicy comments to that effect BEFORE the treatment had even started!

Not conducive to relaxation. I've had many facials over 40+ years. This was by far the worst experience ever. My advice to this salon: teach your aestheticians some manners.

Ariana is friendly and attentive to my specific skin care needs. I have a long history with eczema and she always selects the right products and makes appropriate treatment recommendations so my skin feels calm and relaxed rather than angry and irritated. While she does educate me on products that may have beneficial qualities for my skin, she is not a product pusher. I always look forward to the next facial, not only because how my skin looks and feels afterwards but because it is an overall lovely experience.

I feel like words couldn't possible do Shane of Joanna Vargas the justice he deserves. I've been going to Shane for about two years now, and my skin simply has not stopped glowing. I have combination skin that is quite sensitive and prone to congestion. Every time I've gone to an esthetician at other salons, my skin always had some sort of reaction to products used or general flare ups post treatment (not to mention being pushed products that are expensive and not meant for my skin type). Shane revamped my skincare routine and gave me a glow I couldn't achieve with even the biggest of Sephora hauls.

His in depth knowledge and attention to detail makes him a reliable and obvious choice. Every experience I've had at JV has been nothing short of amazing, and Shane is my top pick by far. After my 3rd facial with him I decided that he'll be my go to, so much so, that I'm debating flying from NYC to the LA location for some sun and a facial by Shane. My only advice: if he has an opening, book it. His calendar fills up abnormally fast.

So good- Both facials and massages. Definitely recommend coming here to glow and to relax.

Lovely waiting area (which you can't use now because of covid 19) and if you are a first timer (or super VIP's I assume) they use a gorgeous big room but once you buy their package you will never see that spacious beautiful room ever again. Their triple crown to me weirdly dries out my sensitive combination skin so I really can't recommend.

Super nova is indeed very nice but at whopping $325 I would never get it again (maybe for some very special occasion?) since there are just as good ones out there at a cheaper price. Staff are all extremely nice (front desk/estheticians) and they don't give you too much sales pressure which I like. Joanna Vargas products are all pretty good quality too.

I went into JV this week for a facial with Gabrielle. I cannot say enough good things about my experience! The spa in general was taking all necessary precautions (sanitizing stations, temp checks, closed waiting area) to make any client feel safe. I have had several facials at this location, but it was my first time seeing Gabrielle. She was extremely warm to be around and beyond knowledgeable.

I wasn't sure which facial to book, so we had an in-depth consultation and I trusted her judgement to choose whatever my skin would need. Gabrielle gave the most relaxing facial that and also offered product recommendations, but was in no way pushy. I would highly recommend seeing Gabrielle for your next visit!

I've been struggling with acne and scarring for a couple of years. I've tried everything from different spas, products, dermatologists and nothing worked until I met Anastasia. I started seeing a difference after only a month of working with her. Anastasia genuinely loves what she does and has her clients' best interests at heart. She not only recommends the best facials for you but takes the time to ensure you're doing everything correctly at home to further your results.

My skin has not felt nor looked this good in yearsss! Some of the facials I've done are Triple Crown and Oxygen Purifying. We recently started the Twilight treatment for the scarring and I can't wait to see my end results!

During covid: the waiting room is closed, no water or tea service. I selected this spabecause it is well regarded by beauty editors, fellow professional estheticians, and celebrities. Located on the 3rd floor, is a massive Joanna vargas skin care spa. Seriously, it's bigger than the unit I work at in the hospital. Wow. First, the ladies working the front desk were really nice. I've been working Overtime for a couple of months due to covid and wanted to treat myself to a JV facial.

I booked the triple crown, because I didn't know which one I wanted. After a magnified skin analysis, my master esetechian, Elena, who is always booked well in advance, suggested an oxygen purifying facial instead. Obviously, she knows what she's doing, so yeah, we are going to switch it up. Thanks, Elena. I assume the first step is make up removal, but I don't wear makeup. Microdermabrasion or Liquid extraction is next, very gentle sanding of the skin to remove the outer layer of dead dry skin cells. Cleanse and face slapping (also very gentle).

Hot towel to open the pores. Serum + Massage? Exfoliation, Steam and extraction, another towel, a Mask based on what your skin needs, high frequency massage? I don't remember. another mask, and massage, oxygen treatment. It's a very detailed 15ish step process and left feeling like my skin was glowing. My skin felt great the following day as well. However, they are very high in demand, so be sure to book your appointment well in advance.

It's about time to update my review for Joanna Vargas. Just had my Supernova Facial ($325 per session) with Marina at 3PM this afternoon and it was the perfect year-end monthly facial for 2019. My package is really Triple Crown Facial ($250 per session) but you can switch it up to any other facials, just pay the difference between the services.

In this case, Marina and I decided to switch it up for that 'holiday glow', because who doesn't want radiant skin during the holidays right? What I love about Joanna Vargas basically boils down to 2 things: 1. The skincare brand and reputation speaks for itself. Yes they're expensive but I'm paying for state of the art skincare technologies and products that have taken years of research for it to really work. 2.

My Esthetician, Marina. Well she's actually a Master Esthetician now and she is just incredible. She is warm and her technique is meticulous and perfect. Her attention to detail is 100% and I feel really well taken care of. Not to mention my skin is healthy, youthful, and glowing. My monthly facial treatments with her are absolutely paying off! She's in fact the reason why I renewed my package for another year.

Thanks Marina! I've seen some improvements with the reception team, some warmer and nicer than others. Hope it consistently gets better. If Senior Leadership and Ms. Joanna Vargas herself reads this and works on feedback received, thank you. That truly means a lot to loyal customers like me.

I just had a Triple Crown Facial with Anastasia and my fifth Led Light Bed session and I had a wonderful experience! I was in Asia for almost three weeks and as it was mostly a work trip, I barely had time to wash my face and my skin felt dull and exhausted. Anastasia took a look at my skin and actually complimented it (yay!), but also suggested what I can do to improve my skin quality and increase its vitality.

My face felt lifted and plump after the facial and I honestly don't need to wear any makeup! I have to add that I do use Joanna Vargas Super Nova serum with retinol, the masks and just got a Face wash as well, and the products along with a proper care and an occasional facial will do wonders. I work in the PR industry and get a lot of beauty products for free to try, but Joanna Vargas is one of the only one I use religiously and trust. No wonder, so many celebrities come to this salon when they are in New York. The service, the decor, the products. everything is just creme de la creme :)

Excellent service. This and a spironolactone prescription fixed my skin! I go every 6 weeks religiously for an oxygen facial and love the service, attention to detail and all over good vibes. It's an excellent place. the pictures speak for themselves. I recommend Shane and Audrey- But all of their esthetician's are great! You won't be disappointed!

I managed to snag an appointment with Anastasia today and she did not disappoint! I received the Triple Crown Facial that included microcurrents and Joanna's exfoliant that felt amazing. If you're new to skin care and don't want to feel judged, or a pro who knows what they're looking for, Anastasia is the one for you.

I had an Oxygen Purifying Facial here and it was amazing. The whole process consisted of a microdermabrasion, peel, extraction, face mask and oxygen facial. My skin looked amazing after the facial. the micro deem abrasion removed all my dull skin. The extraction removed all the gunk and sebum in my pores and now my nose looks smooth and poreless. The redness on the side of my face as well as the acne between my brows are significantly reduced as well.

My favorite part was the oxygen facial! It was so cooling and refreshing. I saw a difference in my skin almost immediately! It was brighter and had a glow to it. I will definitely be coming back here!

This is the first time I've been here and it was honestly an amazing facial. I had Marina do my oxygen purifying facial and I opened my eyes to an amazing glow to my face. Joanna has amazing products and my skin has never felt better! It's been about two months of using her products and my skin is glowing every morning.

I love the daily and rejuvenating serum, the daily hydrating cream (which smells AMAZING, by the way), and the eye cream which has really done wonders on de puffing my under eye bags. All the girls are so sweet and what makes this place so unique is how they really take the time to make each experience a memorable and special one. They really analyze your face under the light and customize each treatment to your current skins condition.

I had an Oxygen Purifying Facial done with master esthetician Sarah and she is so nice! She is an artist with her hands, you can tell and feel she knows what she's doing. Highly recommend the bed light, it helps to reduce inflammation! I love how my face and skin feels and looks in the mirror every time I come out of the bed light. Its becoming quite the trend now, so I'd definitely get on that soon...:)

The Vitamin C face wash does wonders. I have been using this for about 2 weeks and the horrible reoccurring acne on my forehead is gone! It really does a great job of removing the dirt and makeup, leaving my pores clean and preventing future breakouts. It doesn't dry out my skin and I see my natural glow returning. I can already tell I'll be using this face wash for years to come. I can't wait to try her other products!

Went for a triple crown facial with Asia. Was welcomed with a warm greeting, water, & warm tea from their front desk staff. They make you feel right at home! The facial itself was absolutely incredible! Loved the way the citrus mask smelled. She is very knowledgeable, experienced, and professional. I have been experiencing some pigmentation issues and she knew exactly how to address the problem. Very satisfied with my experience! Will definitely be back! I can't wait to try their other products!

I had a visit with Ulyana for a facial and power peel. I was having some inflammation from a breakout and some dryness on my forehead. The entire experience from checkin to checkout was very professional, relaxing, and I was able to see results immediately. The all organic products felt very calming and smelled great. The spa is beautiful with a spectacular view over Bryant Park.

I was really excited to have my facial at Joanna Vargas Salon today. I really care about where I get my facials so it's important to me to do a little research before I go in. The entire experience was excellent. The salon looks very nice, the atmosphere was very calming. I had a triple crown facial with esthetician Anastasia. She has a very calming voice and gentle hands. She was telling all the details about the facial and how to take care of my face even better. As a busy mom this hour was well worth it. I will definitely come back.

I just left Joanna Vargas Skin Care and I feel TRANSFORMED. It was such a relaxing and informative experience. I got the Triple Crown Facial from Anastasia and I've never seen my skin look this great in my entire life. Not only was she professional and witty, she was informative throughout the process and taught me how to take care of my skin in between facials so I can continue working to improve my skin. I had such a wonderful experience at JVLA salon! Asia was so knowledgeable and gave me an outstanding facial! The facial was unlike any I have ever had. The treatment of microcurrent is great for anti aging and I love that it is natural which is great for my sensitive skin! I am so happy that I finally found a salon with superb treatments and would highly recommend it to everyone!

Polite and professional staff will take care of you upon arrival. My facial specialist is Ulyana and I couldn't be happier with her. She took time to understand needs of my skin and results she delivers always leave me with WOW reaction. Her strong attention to detail leaves my face toned and my skin smooth and radiant, turning the time clock back. Highly recommended!

This place is awesome, I usually walk out of facials really red or oily but I walked out with a nice glow and I felt like all of my needs were addressed. Monica was amazing and I can't wait to go back! I already see a difference in my skin.
