Joseph DeLeon
Owner
Joseph (Joe) DeLeon, CMT since 2002, has finished George Mason University and has a degree in Music with a concentration in Percussion Performance. While in his undergraduate studies, Joe became fascinated with effects of movement on the body and started a 7 year study in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu under Sensei George Arrington. He was employed in the Dance Department at GMU as a Dance Accompanist, where his job centered around estimating movement and creating music to support it. During his undergraduate studies he witnessed the constant repetitive use injuries suffered by fellow musicians and dancers and upon Graduation from GMU in 2000, he immediately enrolled in the Potomac Massage Training Institute to focus on pain management, abatement of repetitive use injuries, and rehabilitation.
His 9 year tenure working in the Dance Department at GMU sharpened his skills in movement analysis, presented him the chance to experience the spiritual effects of movement through the study of salsa and afro-latino dance, and most importantly, allowed him to provide therapy to peers, faculty and staff at George Mason University and other professional performing artists.
In ardent pursuit of further education and understanding of the body, he studied under Whitney Lowe (President of NCBTMB) and became certified in Orthopedic Massage Therapy. Seeking additional education and a different perspective on clinical pathologies, he studied under Howard Rontal (Personal Secretary to Joseph Heller) and became a Certified Myofascial Release Practitioner.
