International Chiropractic Clinic THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

Any type of massage is therapeutic massage when that is the intent. Simply put, massage is the manipulation of muscles, tendons and connective tissue, and therapy is treatment.

RELAXATION OR SWEDISH MASSAGE

The most popular massage technique in the country. Done on a table, with the client unclothed, oil or lotion is used enabling long, gliding strokes on muscles. One goal is to get the blood flowing to relieve minor aches and pains. Light to moderate pressure for a relaxing effect, deeper pressure for a healing effect. Rehabilitative massage, Sports massage, Deep Tissue massage are all derivatives of Swedish massage.

THAI MASSAGE

Done on a mat on the floor, with the client fully clothed, is more energizing and rigorous than the Swedish massage. Hands, knees and feet are used to move the client into yoga-like stretches, that moves the joints and the muscles, improving flexibility. The object is not to place the client in strained or uncomfortable positions, but to work within the limits of the client.
