Peter Conte Salon & Day Spa

I came here for the first time last week for a soak, pedicure, facial, and a massage. The facility itself has a calming feel as soon as you walk in and is extremely clean. Every service I received was amazing. The staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating. I didn't catch everyone's name, but Sandra was my nail tech and gave me the best pedicure. Zero complaints. I absolutely recommend booking a service here.

This is a great place! I've gotten massages from Liz, and they were excellent. My girlfriend gets her nails done, and she loves everything about the service. The interior design of the salon/spa is relaxing and comfortable. A++++

SPRAY TAN WITH MEAGHAN - I received Meaghan's info through a referral and I'm so glad I did. I had went to do a trial spray tan at another well known salon and was not happy with the orange and peeling results. I didn't have time between my first bad trial somewhere else and the wedding to do another trial with Meaghan so I risked it and went anyways days before the wedding.

I'm SO happy I did! Meaghan was so amazing and the tan was PERFECT! Very natural looking, just a "glow" which is what I wanted for the wedding. Highly recommend and I will be back for all my spray tanning needs!

I've had my hair colored & highlighted by Daria at Peter Conte three times now and she's the best! She's very talented and always does my hair exactly like I ask. Not only that, it's such a nice & relaxing environment to chill & get pampered. The whole staff are as nice as can be, and you really don't want to leave when you're done! Lol. I'd also like to mention that, although Jade has never done my hair, I've seen her work and she's awesome too! I highly recommend and look forward to my next visit. Daria is an absolute wonder! My color and cut is exactly what I want every time I go and she always gives her professional opinion so I leave feeling great! If you need any esthetician service Meaghan is your go to! She is knowledgeable and will suggest a skin care routine that is not only healthy but easy! I never leave disappointed no matter what I go in for.

Amazing customer service! I did waxing with Meaghan (I hope I spelled it right), she was great and the experience was completely painless. Also got a haircut by Daria who took the time to listen to me and gave me an amazing haircut that suits my hair type. Would recommend 100% and would definitely come back again! Came back a second time for highlights and a haircut and JADE WAS AMAZING Extremely helpful, she guided me through the whole process, made sure to listen to my concerns and had exceptional customer service. Would definitely come back!

Been getting haircuts every 2 to 3 weeks roughly for the last 8 years for the service and hated it. I now get my haircuts here and I actually enjoy it and it looks good for months afterwards. The front desk are pleasant and Roger is top notch in mens haircuts! Does a good beard trimming as well. I enjoy the company and the salon is well cleaned and safe during these trying times. Staff is professional and takes everyone's health very seriously.

Very overpriced. On last visit, when I was hoping to get a quick consultation, based on an invite to do that, a year ago, a stylist who was asked by the receptionist if she could cut my hair without using clippers, said no without meeting me. The person who invited me in for the consultation about a year ago -- who does men's hair, was gone. Very comfortable shop with bright atmosphere, from the time you walk in. And though I didn't go in cutting area on this visit, I did get a haircut there a few years ago with the owner.

Went in for a cut with a picture of a short style I wanted. Went with my hair texture, should have been a good and easy haircut. I ended up with the worst haircut I ever had. Uneven, scissor lines visible a complete massacre. It has taken me a couple of extremely short cuts to fix which I had done at Shine in Keyport, not only was the price better by far but Gina is an absolute genius! Avoid this salon at all costs I wish I had

I have been a long time regular at Peter Conte. I have had everything done from pregnancy massages to spa treatments. I go for my hair every month with Angela and Joann. I see Meaghan for wax, facial and eyelashes. No one is more particular than I am! Lol I trust them completely to the point that I just let them do whatever they think I need. The ladies at the front desk are great coordinating with my crazy schedule. When I walk in I feel like I am relaxing with friends! I am a customer for life and I suggest you give the salon a try, you won't regret it! Thank you Jess

Best massage I've ever had! My massage therapist, Allison, gave the most relaxing massage and was very accommodating to my specific requests of how I like the pressure and the areas of my body that needed more attention. I love that aromatherapy is complimentary with the massage, too, and she gave a full 60 minutes(!) unlike those chain places that rush you out after 50 minutes. It was truly a great, relaxing experience and I can't wait start using my monthly membership with them! I 100% recommend Allison to anyone looking for a great massage.

I booked an appointment with this salon after seeing some good reviews online. Typically, I would never come to Yelp to write a negative review, but because I made the appointment specifically for my "wedding hair color" and was incredibly unhappy, I feel as though it warrants a review. To start, the salon has no parking. I was forced to park in the public parking lot up the street, and ran through the streets of Matawan in the pouring rain.

I had come in asking the stylist to bring my blonde up a lot, but to leave a little bit of the root. I left the salon looking basically the same as I did when I came in, after spending a lot of money. I called and let them know I'm getting married the following week, and needed them to fix it. They scheduled me in a few days later, and said they'd bring the color up a little more. Again, I left unhappy.

The color was incredibly brassy, like it wasn't processed for long enough. Also, the way the stylist did the application made it look like my hair had grown out for months, and was not blended at all! I cried for days, and wasn't able to get an appointment anywhere else on such short notice. So, now I'm stuck looking at my wedding photos where it looks like I didn't even bother to go get my hair done before the most important day of my life! Not to mention, they were pretty expensive. The salon is highly overrated, and I wouldn't recommend, but then again, I may have just gotten the wrong stylist.

Went to this salon with a picture of a cut I wanted that went with my hair type. I was told this would be no problem, I trusted this because I had been there before with few problems. What I got was a choppy uneven mess that looked horrible and needed to be fixed by the next day. I will never go there again. I never leave reviews especially bad ones, I leave this one because it was that bad. Beware before you allow them to start cutting.

I went to Great Clips in Aberdeen after this nightmare, Robin fixed the damage done and was wonderful. Took me in on a Sunday even as they we're closing and made my hair look so much better. Thank you to Great Clips and shame on Peter Conte.

I had 2 completely different experiences. One was fabulous and the other left me practically in tears with no sign of concern from the colorist. So no not going back

I had a massage and facial yesterday and it as just what the doctor ordered! Alison's massage relieved me of the knots in my shoulders, and the hot stone treatment, which I'd never had before, was like the icing on the cake. Megan's facial was excellent - her knowledge of skin issues and treatments with Dermalogica products is encyclopedic, and I actually started to doze a bit during the facial, it was so relaxing! Highly recommend going to Peter Conte for spa and haircare!

I've been coming here for a few years for amazing cut and coloring services with Angela but recently came in for a massage with Donald at the spa and can't wait to go back. Hands down the best massage i have ever received, perfect pressure and he really listened to my needs and paid special attention the aches and pains i had from overdoing in daily life. I walked out of there a new person, he's got a client for life.

This salon is my goto place in the area for massages. Heather is a great masseuse and I always leave feeling great and relaxed. I also love the showers in the locker room, they have great body sprays as well. Just a great local find.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review for Peter Conte! I have been going here for what feels like forever but what has actually been a little over about 5 years. I have come here every few months for my hair cuts, Keratin express treatments, color, eye brow waxes and blowouts. I have yet to ever leave disappointed! I usually go to Roger for my haircuts and Keratin and either Lauren or Jeannette for my color, but I think you'd be in good hands with any stylist there.

Before trying Peter Conte, I had tried Keratin Express treatments from a few other salons and never saw results. The formula that Roger uses actually works and lasts long enough to make the investment very worthwhile! Also, Kaylee is one of the salon stylists and is an absolutely sweetheart! She is excellent and has done my blowouts and Keratin flawlessly.

Definitely would recommend her as well! Overall, i just love coming to this salon. The customer service is fantastic and all the girls are so so sweet. My mom and I are life-long customers!

Peter Conte Salon & Spa, great staff, great owners. Always welcoming and efficient. The place is magnificent. I highly recommend it to anyone who would enjoy some pampering and relaxation.

Been here several more times with other stylists and services, including a massage. All around great service and results, equivalent to higher end salons I have been to in the city. So happy to have them nearby on Main Street.

UNRELIABLE! Kept me waiting 25 minutes, then sat me in a chair for another 10. I finally left. As I was leaving, hair stylist came rushing out and her words were, "Well, I'm trying". What does that even mean? Anyway, if your time is valuable, don't bother going!

Janette at Peter Conte Salon and Spa has been coloring/styling my hair for over 10 years and I have always been happy. Over the years i have had manicures, pedicures, waxings and messages and everyone that works there is very professional and competent.

Wanted to love this place - they booked my appointment, I walked in. waited for about 25 minutes ( the made a point of telling me that I'd better not cancel or they'd charge me 50% of my service) and then I get told that I can't get a cut & color today - they could only do the color and I'd have to come back for a cut some other time. Huge waste of my afternoon. I wouldn't run a business this way, but I guess they don't need new clientele.

I made an appointment for a couples massage as a Valentine's Day gift for my boyfriend. They had a promotion for Valentine's Day that with any 60 minute massage you will get the grotto tub soak free. When I called to make the appointment, I specifically told them that it was my first time there and that I had been referred by my sister and I had a referral credit of $20 off spa services each of us and I asked if I could combine the offers and still get the Valentine's grotto tub special.

The lady said "yes, absolutely, you're going to get the Valentine's deal and get the $20 off each your massages".ok then, so I booked it. The day of the massage, I ended up paying for the grotto tub because they didn't want to honor the Valentine's Day free grotto tub special because they couldn't combine the offers, after they said they could be combined.

I informed them that the lady I spoke to on the phone had said they would combine the offers and there answer was "Oh, I'm sorry I don't know who you spoke to but we can't combine the offers", really?! Seriously?! that's how you treat NEW clients?! They should have honored their word and make a new client happy, hence I might have returned.

Now I will NEVER go back to this spa and will NEVER recommend it to anybody. May I add, EVERYTHING is RIDICULOUSLY OVER PRICED! I feel completely robbed. The massage was nothing out of the ordinary, it was a simple massage with not even a bit of pressure. I felt my back was just being caressed. And all though my boyfriend enjoyed his gift, he wasn't overall impressed either, informing me he wished they'd put more pressure instead of just caressing his back, and he remembered telling her to be firm with his massage.

He also said that he specifically circled on the paper work that he had pain and needed attention on his calves and that the massage therapist completely avoided and skipped his calves. They didn't even pay attention to our needs.

I definitely need to add my experience as this place deserves all the 5 stars it merits. I came here today on a dreary day after a harrowing week needing to unwind a little. This place is so deceptively small from the outside, but the awesome Amelia showed me around for what I was in for. First, she took me to the "rainforest shower" room. I scrubbed down amidst 5 jets with honeysuckle oil, shampoo, and conditioner. Then, I took a ( temperature at my request) hot, hot aromatherapy bath with candles lit and eucalyptus (my choice, or else you can have lemon, citrus, lavender, or bergamot) salts.

I practically parboiled myself with the infrared tub lights - I have no idea what the health benefits of that are but it is a great effect, nonetheless- until it was time to come out. After that, a 30 minute deep tissue rubdown followed by your nails done while sitting in a fluffy bathrobe. After services, tax, and tips I rounded out at about $340. I hate everybody who has the cash flow to do this more than once a month.

Heaven! I absolutely love this place for massages and facials. I have been coming for years. I've been to spas in between and nothing compares. The ambiance is very calming and they treat you like royalty. They don't rush you in and out. Iris and Cindy do a phenomenal job. If I could afford it, I would be there once a week. A hidden gem in the murky depths of Main Street! I love this spa. It's deceptively big (looks like an ordinary storefront from the street) and very, very clean. My husband and I always do the grotto soak and follow it with a couples massage. Not a bad way to spend 2+ hours, and at under $200 it's a pretty good deal. If you get on their mailing list they will send you all sorts of amazing promo deals, i.e. midweek massage specials and facials and the sort. I've only had one facial there, but the aesthetician was really knowledgeable and gentle. I can see why this place has such a following.
