Rarely do I give a rating of five stars for anything on Yelp, but I do so for Cuttin' Up. My wife had me visit Susan (the proprietor) soon after we got married 20+ years ago because she did not like the clipper cuts I got at the barber shop. Since then, I have always received a great hair cut (from Susan or the other people who work there), but there is a more.

I have three daughters, and they all demand Susan. When my wife tried to save money by taking a daughter to another shop, I ended up bringing her to Susan to fix her hair. People complimented my daughter on her hair after the fix. If you get a bad haircut elsewhere, go to Cuttin' Up to get a hair rescue! I have also observed other things in the 20+ years of going there.

While sitting and waiting for my appointment, I have never seen anyone leave with bad hair. Great hair makes women noticeable! Want color? They do such a wonderful job that even a man like me notices. I have since moved to Houston, and have yet to find a good place for a haircut. My oldest two daughters are in college and plan haircuts around travel through Slidell. Appointments are suggested, not always necessary. Remember to tip the hair washer!

Unfortunately, I had a pretty negative experience. I was visiting my mom and made appointments to have pedicures and a blowout before a night out. Our appointments were scheduled to start at 7pm. The salon contacted me at 6:20pm to advise that "they were really busy and had to cancel." I've never had a salon cancel right before an appointment. We were pretty disappointed.
