Through a rigorous selection process, we have assembled a uniquely qualified team of professionals, all dedicated to exploring the healing potential of bodywork. We don't believe in standardized menus. Instead, we are committed to tailoring each session individually, using certain tools and modalities that so greatly enhance therapeutic massage that they are indispensable to transformative bodywork. We call these tools "allied therapies, " and because they are integral to Opal's treatment strategy, we do not charge extra for any of them.
Services
Opal began in the summer of 2000 when two young, energetic massage therapists named Sarah and Sherry dreamed of creating a healing center devoted entirely to bodywork. Opal was born of the desire to ground our work in a physical space that provided the tools and atmosphere necessary to provide the most transformative massage experience possible.
All Opal gift cards act as an in-house debit card with an updated balance. You may choose a gift of any amount. I was looking for a good massage spot for almost a year. I have very high standards as I love massages and used to work with a great professional before I moved to Brooklyn. I see Shamma, and hands down she is one the best. The most relaxing, tightness and stress eliminating massage. I'm so lucky I found her and I hope to work with her for many more years.

I was an LMT about 10 years ago before coming to NYC and have been searching for a place that fit my very high standards for just as long. I chose Opal in a panic as I'd thrown my back out and I am SO glad I did! I have had a deep tissue and a THAI massage and they were both wonderful. Draping was professional, I was communicated with about my needs and preferences and my therapists checked in with me throughout with pressure and comfort without being "chatty".
I left feeling good, satisfied, and knowing I'd return. It is not a spa or salon with massage as an option but is a space designated only for massage. I love that! Their prices are reasonable especially since their sessions are 70 minutes as opposed to the usual 50/60 min. My one critique is that there are artificial fragrances used in the bathroom.
A plug-in air freshener and an oil feed diffuser. I suffer from Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and so using their facilities was uncomfortable for me. Their linens and oils are all natural and free of fragrances so I was at least comfortable during my treatments.

I have been going to Opal for about 16 years. The vast majority of the therapists there give are excellent therapeutic massages. I have friends who get relaxation massages as well. The basic massage is not basic at all. It is a full 70 minutes long, and includes hot packs and hot stones for no extra charge. But since I am pro level massage getter I only get the 90 minute massage.
The space is relaxing, clean and smells of lovely essential oils. Because my favorite therapists there book out very quickly I won't say their names here because then you might take an appointment that I want LOL

Very clean and a welcoming staff. This is not for the shy. The massage is not Swedish. Its a THAI massage. If you have never experienced this, keep in mind that they work by walking on your back, thighs and calves. At times, why you try to stay covered there are areas that are exposed that could be uncomfortable for someone who is shy. Linda was great.
She concluded my massage by stretching me from the back as she wrapped her legs around me. Yes, she was on the massage table with me. I would return, especially now that I know about the experience

The best message therapist ever! Not only that but Opal Massage & Allied Therapies LLP really makes other local spas look and feel shabby. I've gone to a few other ones and I was clawing my way back to Opal Massage & Allied Therapies LLP. It really Is whole body relaxation and I am always slightly irritated when I have to leave and go back to the real world.
I love coming here and getting lost in an oasis of awesomeness, a membership here is the least I can do. Love me some monthly Opal Massage & Allied Therapies LLP time! p.s. This place is SUPER CLEAN and I am a stickler about that so.

Was recommended by a friend to come to Opal for a massage and I was not disappointed. Usually I see Sherry and she is excellent. Very attentive and professional for both regular and prenatal massage. She combines use of heated stones and aromatherapy which works well for me. Terrific price for the high quality of massage. Highly recommended!
